Competitors faced off today at the MCS Corral. One of our presenters drew out the Pinkertons and let go a hail of convincing phrases that made even the vaguely interested, take notice of the Deadly Desperados. What slick authoring lassoed this presenter? Was the twists and turns of the get away trail that will make this book, this year's showdown winner? Stay tuned to find out!!

Well, the 2018 Tournament of Books is underway. The class was buzzing as the first head-to-head presentations neared. The kids were excited, but you could cut the tension with a knife. As the bell sounded for recess, groups of friends piled into the MCS Learning Commons to hear about this year's book selections.
As students returned to class and later, prepared for the end of the day, mentions of how they thought the day went dotted conversations. Nerves still persist in anticipation for individual presentations, but all seem to have settled in to the competition. What the?...There has to be another vote here somewhere!
That's right! For the first time in our Tournament of Books, we have a tie. Well, we had some controversy over others not voting, some voting and not listening to the presentations. It seems that we have come to a somewhat unique solution, where the 2 competitors will continue to the Elite Eight, and have a 3-way debate with the winner from the other bracket. This will be, of course, with consent from our absent competitive. These presentations are AWESOME!! Makes it so difficult to decide. Way to go grade 5!! I am blown away by the confidence our competitors have when they stand in front of their peers to present their novels. Moreover, the decisiveness they have when answering directed questions in the question answer period of the debate.
Our IB Attitudes certainly shine: Confidence Curiosity Independence Respect Enthusiasm Appreciation Tolerance Wow! The tournament is off and running, We have an amazing and varied selection of novels this year.
